The 2009 Colorado Bicentennial
Commission Contest Rules
Introduction: Abraham Lincoln means many different things to many different Americans. The Colorado Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission (CLBC) has developed four different focus questions for four different age groups that should challenge you to make a creative connection between Lincoln and your own life and time. At all levels students are invited to respond to the appropriate question through essay writing, visual art or creative writing/poetry. At each level word requirements and specific questions are posed so please pay close attention to the particulars of the correct contest.
Deadline for ALL entries is March 23, 2009
By submitting an entry, you grant the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission permission to use, reproduce, and distribute the entry or excerpts from it, in connection with the Lincoln observance. All entry forms, submissions and associated materials become the property of the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and will not be returned.

Requirements
- By submitting an entry, you grant the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission permission to use, modify, reproduce and distribute the entry and the associated materials in connection with any other related Lincoln activities. Submissions and associated materials become the property of the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and will not be returned.
- By submitting an entry, entrants represent and warrant that they have all necessary rights to grant permission for the publication of the submission and all associated materials.
- All entries must be original, truth unpublished, and created solely by the submitting entrant. Judging: A panel of judges chosen by the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission will evaluate entries based on compliance with rules, creativity, and clarity of presentation, accuracy, and relevance to the topic. The decision of the judges will be final.
- Prizes: Contest winners will be recognized at both the congressional district level and the state level. Prizes may include monetary awards.
- Expenses and costs not stated are the sole responsibility of the winners. If winners cannot accept the prizes as states, the prizes will be forfeited and awarded to alternate winner(s). In the case of a monetary award all taxes are responsibility of the winner.
- Notification of Winner(s): Semi-finalists will be notified by Friday April 24th, 2009. Notification will be sent via email with an invitation to semi-finalist event.
