Librarian Days 2009: The Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s Birth
Metropolitan State College of Denver, Auraria Campus, downtown.
This free annual conference hosts 200 Colorado educators and is held at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. Educators will be invited to use primary sources about Lincoln to inquire about history, create resources for learning and knowledge and fashion innovative learning communities. The goal of the hands-on event is for librarian/teacher teams to create new, ready-to-use primary source-based learning materials to take back to the classroom. For conference details, see the Teaching with Primary Sources website: http://www.mscd.edu/tps/.

When History Happens: “Thinkin’ Like Lincoln” *
The TPS-Colorado team will work in collaboration with the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission to create programs throughout 2009 to commemorate Lincoln’s birth, to promote awareness of how the West shaped Lincoln and how he shaped the West, and to encourage dialogue about and engagement with the challenges of democracy and equal opportunity in Lincoln’s time and ours.
